Questions people ask

What does CCD2 require for automated credit decisions?

Where a creditworthiness assessment involves automated processing of personal data, the consumer has the right to request human intervention, to get a clear and comprehensible explanation of the assessment, and to express their point of view and contest the assessment and decision.

When does it apply?

Directive (EU) 2023/2225 applies from 20 November 2026, replacing the 2008 Consumer Credit Directive.

What data can't be used?

Personal data from social networks must not be used, nor special categories of personal data such as health or ethnic origin.

Does it cover buy-now-pay-later?

Yes. The new directive brings many previously excluded products, including interest-free and short-term credit such as many buy-now-pay-later schemes, within its scope.

How do I prove a human reviewed the decision?

Record the automated assessment, the human review and the outcome as they happen, sealed so they cannot be edited later. sebbi.pro does this and routes uncertain decisions to a person.
