What technical documentation does the EU AI Act require?
Article 11 requires providers of high-risk AI to draw up technical documentation before the system is placed on the market and keep it up to date. Annex IV lists what it must cover: a general description and intended purpose, the design and development process, data and data governance, human oversight measures, accuracy, robustness and cybersecurity, the risk management system, changes over the lifecycle, the standards applied, the EU declaration of conformity and the post-market monitoring plan.
How it works
- Use Annex IV as your table of contents.
- Keep each version, and record what changed and when.
- Keep it for 10 years after the system is placed on the market (Article 18).
- Seal each version so you can prove which document existed at which point.
