What is post-market monitoring under the EU AI Act?

Article 72 requires providers of high-risk AI to run a post-market monitoring system that actively and systematically collects and analyses data on how the system performs throughout its life, so they can keep checking it still complies. It must follow a documented plan, which forms part of the technical documentation.

How it works

  1. Decide what you will measure: accuracy, errors, complaints, overrides, incidents.
  2. Collect that data continuously from real use, including from deployers.
  3. Review it on a schedule and act on what it shows.
  4. Keep the records sealed, so monitoring results cannot be quietly changed later.
