How do I implement human oversight for high-risk AI?

Article 14 requires high-risk AI to be designed so people can effectively oversee it while it is in use: understand its capabilities and limits, monitor it, avoid over-relying on it, correctly interpret its output, and decide not to use it, override it or stop it. In practice that means named reviewers, clear triggers for when a human must step in, and a record of every intervention.

How it works

  1. Name who oversees the system and make sure they have the competence and authority to override it.
  2. Route uncertain or high-impact decisions to a person. sebbi.pro's CHALLENGE verdict does exactly this.
  3. Give reviewers a way to stop the system.
  4. Record each human review and override, sealed so it cannot be edited afterwards.
